April 2020 Updates from Moss-side of Esslie

An Update from Moss-side of Esslie

April 2020

Douglas has been using his Claydon drill for several years and prefers its establishment due to its ability to work at depth if necessary. This strip-till drill can work at 8 inches depth if Douglas feels that there are underlying compaction issues in his heavy soils. Douglas has found that although initial emergence is not as even as conventional establishment due to varying seed depth, the crop soon even out as the season progresses – a small price to pay for reduced fuel use and a high work rate. Douglas has recently installed GPS guidance onto his tractor, providing him with reduced overlaps and more time to ensure that the drill is functioning correctly.
