Event: Integrated Trees Network – Walking & Talking Trees with Hamish MacDonald

Date: 19th October 2023, 1 – 4pm

Venue: Southfield Farm, Hawick, TD9 0PE

Join the Integrated Trees Network team and Hamish MacDonald at Southfield farm, an upland tenanted farm of 628 acres home to the Innovis 1000 ewe nucleus flock and a new venture into woodland creation.

Discussions will include how and why 38 acres of native broadleaves have been integrated on the farm. The initial thought processes, objectives, challenges, and the benefits for the business and the environment. These includes shelter for livestock, additional fencing for subdividing large areas of rough grazing, enhancing biodiversity, flood mitigation and carbon sequestration, strengthening the overall environmental capital of the farm.

Speakers from Scottish Forestry and Tweed Forum will also attend to discuss funding and first steps to woodland creation.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Numbers are limited so booking is essential.

The Integrating Trees Network is managed by Scottish Forestry and the Scottish Government.
